Britain’s King Charles III mentioned Ukraine in his speech to the US Congress.
“Unwavering resolve is needed to protect Ukraine and its bravest people – to ensure a truly just and lasting peace,” he said.
King Charles urged the United States to stand firm with its Western allies during his speech.
“The challenges we face are too great for any one country to overcome alone,” he said.
Whatever the differences, the British monarch said, “we are united in our commitment to support democracy.”
“I pray with all my heart that our union will continue to protect our shared values… And that we will ignore clear calls to become even more narcissistic,” he added.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla arrived in the US on 27 April for a four-day official visit. This is the first time Charles is visiting the US as a monarch, the first state visit by any British monarch since 2007.
