US President Donald Trump has sharply criticised Russian Deputy Security Council Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, who claimed that Trump’s setting a deadline for Russia to reach a peace deal with Ukraine brings him closer to war with Russia.
“And tell Medvedev, the failed former Russian president who still considers himself president, to watch his words. He is entering very dangerous territory!”,Trump wrote on the Truth Social network.
Trump also touched upon India-Russia trade in his post.
“I don’t care what India does to Russia. They can destroy their dead economies together, I don’t care. We have had very little business with India, their duties are too high, some of the highest in the world. Likewise, Russia and the US have almost no business together. Let’s keep it that way,” he noted.
On 30 July, the US president announced to impose duties of 25 per cent and penalties on trade with India from 1 August because of its close cooperation with Russia.
On 29 July, US President Donald Trump said the deadline for Russia to make progress in ending the war against Ukraine was “10 days from today” or else he would impose duties and other measures against Moscow. Before that, the US president said he was “very disappointed” with Putin.
The Kremlin said it had “taken into account” the statement of US President Donald Trump. At the same time, the speaker of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov noted that the “special military operation”, as the war against Ukraine is called in Russia, continues.
Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, said that the US president’s words bring him closer to war with Russian Federation.
“Trump is playing ultimatum with Russia: 50 days or 10… he should remember two things: 1. Russia is not Israel or even Iran. 2. Every new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war. Not between Russia and Ukraine, but with his own country,” Medvedev wrote in social network X.
