US President Donald Trump has given assurances that the US has “a huge amount of ammunition, particularly of certain types”.
“Large quantities are being produced and supplied to the US as required. Defence companies are building the largest number of plants and factories in our country’s history,” he wrote on Truth Social.
On 4 August, the American television channel CNN reported, citing sources, that approximately half of the stockpile of Patriot interceptor missiles had already been used up. Military officials, whose names the channel did not disclose, described the stock levels in warehouses as “dangerously low”.
Pentagon chief Pete Hegset stated that these figures were inaccurate.
