Turkish Airlines to order up to 225 Boeing aircraft for $22bn

Turkish Airlines is set to purchase up to 225 Boeing Co. aircraft to expand and modernise its fleet.

According to a Boeing press release, the airline has confirmed purchase orders for up to 75 787 Dreamliner aircraft, including 35 787-9s and 15 787-10s, with an option to buy another 25 aircraft in the series.

The orders are valued at more than $22 billion, according to Ishka Ltd. which settles inclusive of standard industry discounts.

Deliveries are expected between 2029 and 2034.

Turkish Airlines also announced it intends to buy up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which could be the largest single order for narrowbody jetliners in Boeing’s history.

The order will be placed if the airline manages to reach an agreement with CFM International, which makes engines for the Boeing 737.

Turkish Airlines has a fleet of more than 200 Boeing airliners, including the 787-9, 777, 737 MAX and next-generation 737 series, as well as the 777 freighter.
