US at UN Security Council meeting: Washington ready for additional measures to ensure peace

US President Donald Trump has made it clear that he wants an agreement to end Russia’s war with Ukraine by 8 August, and Washington is

is ready for additional measures to ensure peace, a US official told the UN Security Council.

“Russia, and Ukraine must agree on a ceasefire and a strong peace. It’s time to make a deal. President Trump has made it clear that this must be done by 8 August. The United States is prepared to take additional measures to ensure peace,” US diplomat John Kelly said during a UN Security Council meeting.

On 29 July, US President Donald Trump said the deadline for Russia to make progress in ending its war against Ukraine was “10 days from today” or he would impose duties and other measures against Moscow.

The Kremlin said it had “taken into account” US President Donald Trump’s statement. At the same time, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the “special military operation”, as Russia calls the war against Ukraine, was continuing.

Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, said that the US president’s words bring him closer to war with Russian Federation.

“Trump is playing ultimatum with Russia: 50 days or 10… he should remember two things: 1. Russia is not Israel or even Iran. 2. Every new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war. Not between Russia and Ukraine, but with his own country,” Medvedev wrote in social network X.
