US President Donald Trump has said that representatives of his administration will not attend the G20 summit to be held in Johannesburg on 22-23 November 2025, citing the “violation of the rights” of white South Africans. He said this on the social network Truth Social, his stance being reported by leading publications.
According to Trump, holding G20 meetings in South Africa is a “disgrace” and the country’s authorities allow killings and illegal land seizures from Africans. The South African side called such allegations baseless and” regretted” the US decision.
South Africa holds the G20 presidency in 2025, with a leadership meeting scheduled for Johannesburg on 22-23 November.
The Trump administration has previously signalled a tough stance on PAR, including public statements on the situation around white farmers that have been criticised by the expert community and PAR officials.
