The US State Department has called for an extension of the “Easter ceasefire” announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“We have seen President Putin’s announcement of a temporary ceasefire for Easter. We remain committed to achieving a full and comprehensive ceasefire,” a State Department spokesman said in an emailed statement on Sunday, quoted by Reuters.
The State Department spokeswoman stressed that the U.S. “would welcome it if the ceasefire continued.”
The Kremlin says Russian President Vladimir Putin has not issued a command to extend the “Easter ceasefire” beyond midnight on 21 April. The corresponding statement was made by the Russian leader’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov.
