Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said in a Facebook post on Saturday that” the market has spoken its mind ” after the US announced new trade tariffs.
“The trade tariff war that the US has launched against the whole world is unprovoked and unjustified,” he said.
Guo Jiakun urged the US to stop “doing wrong things” and resolve differences with trading partners through equitable consultations.
This follows US President Donald Trump’s announcement to impose “reciprocal” customs tariffs on goods from 185 foreign trading partners of the US, specifically 34 per cent duties on Chinese goods. In response to the move, China decided to impose additional duties of 34% on US goods, which will take effect from 10 April.
