In the American city of Grand Blanc (Michigan) in the morning of 28 September there was a shooting in the Mormon Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
According to preliminary data, two people were killed, eight were injured.
The shooter has been killed, there is no longer a threat to the public.
Authorities say an armed man rammed a vehicle into the church entrance during a crowded service, opened fire and then deliberately set fire to the church building. A major fire was started.
Police officers initiated a shootout with the intruder and killed him. The 40-year-old Michigan resident has been identified. The circumstances of the incident are being determined.
“This appears to be another targeted attack on Christians in the United States. This epidemic of violence in our country must stop immediately,” US President Donald Trump wrote in the social network Thrue Social. The investigation is being led by the FBI, he said.
The city of Grand Blanc is located about 105 kilometres north of Detroit.
