A 13-year-old schoolboy has been accused of “LGBT propaganda” in Russia

A 13-year-old schoolboy in Russia has been charged with administrative protocols for “LGBT propaganda” and “demonstration of extremist symbols” through a picture he showed to other children, Mediazona reports, citing the child’s lawyer and mother.

The publication does not disclose the name of the schoolboy and the city where it happened.

The child’s lawyer told reporters that a police report was filed by the parents of the children to whom he showed a picture. According to the lawyer, the schoolboy did not aim at propaganda and did not think about the consequences.

The schoolboy had not reached the age of administrative responsibility, so the police referred the materials to the commission on juvenile affairs. After review, the schoolboy was given a warning under the protocol on “LGBT propaganda”. According to the second protocol, he could be transferred to a special educational institution of closed type. In addition, he was put on the register as a juvenile offender.

“The boy studied on excellent, and characteristics good, and then a little clicked, hormones played – wanted to joke somewhere, something to tell. Grown-up people regarded it as” ay-yay-yay “, that he propagandises something”, – said the lawyer.

The schoolboy’s mother refused to disclose details to journalists.

In December 2022, Vladimir Putin signed a law to completely ban “LGBT propaganda” in Russia – it was previously banned only among minors. The law introduced large fines, up to 5 million roubles, for “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations”.

In November 2023, the Russian Supreme Court declared “extremist” and banned in Russia the “international LGBT movement”, which does not actually exist.
