The Russian Embassy in Sweden said that a can of paint was dropped from a drone on the territory of the diplomatic mission on the night of 25 May.
“What makes the incident particularly cynical is that the drone operators used a glass container, which, when dropped from a height, is capable of causing severe injuries to people,” the embassy’s Telegram channel reported.
The Russian diplomatic mission notes that “such attacks have been a regular occurrence for more than a year” and emphasises that “responsibility for all possible consequences of such incidents will lie with the Swedish authorities”.
A statement released by the embassy says Russian diplomats have repeatedly appealed to the country’s police and Foreign Ministry, demanding that the security and inviolability of the diplomatic mission be guaranteed, but “there have been no results.”
In November 2024, when the Russian Embassy in Sweden reported another paint can dumped on its territory, diplomats noted that attackers had also repeatedly damaged “the carriageway, cars, other property of the Russian diplomatic mission.” At the end of January 2025, according to information in the embassy’s Telegram channel, a Ukrainian citizen, who lives permanently in Sweden, tried to ram the gates of the diplomatic mission with a passenger car; he was detained by the police, who were called by the staff.
