Iran has rejected Abu Dhabi’s claims. A statement from the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the UAE’s behaviour runs counter to the ‘principle of good neighbourliness’ and undermines efforts to prevent escalation in the region.
The UAE came under heavy attack following the outbreak of war in the Middle East in late February, when nearly 3,000 Iranian missiles and drones were fired at the country. At the same time, the Emirates did not report any attacks after the United States and Iran reached a temporary agreement in June aimed at ending the war, although this was subsequently terminated.
