Amid reports of missile and UAV strikes, Iran warns UAE against ‘military solution’

In a new address, Iran’s foreign minister has urged the United Arab Emirates not to resort to a “military solution” against the Islamic Republic.

Abbas Araqchi said on social network X late in the evening of 4 May that he believes there is “no military solution” to the current crisis.

“While talks are progressing thanks to Pakistan’s generous efforts, the United States must be careful not to get back into a predicament due to ill-wishers. The United Arab Emirates must also remain vigilant,” he added, referring to Islamabad’s efforts to mediate the conflict.

Since the start of the US and Israeli operation against Iran on 28 February, the UAE has been among the Gulf states particularly affected by the Iranian strikes, which Tehran says are a response to the US-Israeli military campaign.

A day before Araqchi’s report, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baqai criticised what he called the UAE’s “inappropriate behaviour” since the start of the conflict, saying it had “joined” the aggressors against Iran, creating “many problems”.

Iranian media also published reports of recent military cooperation between Israel and the UAE, including the deployment of advanced air defence systems.

Meanwhile, Emirati authorities said on 4 May that the country had suffered a missile and drone strike by Iran, condemning the attack as a “dangerous escalation” and warning that it “will not hesitate to defend its security and sovereignty.”

Fujairah port authorities said a drone hit a power plant, causing a fire and injuring three people, while the defence ministry said four cruise missiles were launched, three of which were intercepted.
