If Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor had been a scandalous politician, a football manager who got kicked out of the big leagues, or a troubled CEO, he would have been sacked, replaced and forgotten years ago.
But the problem with the King scandal is that it has no natural end point. That’s because you can’t be fired from the family. It will still be there through births, deaths, and marriages.
In addition, behind the amazing story of Andrew’s arrest is also the personal story of two brothers, different in personality, with different responsibilities in the family, who are now on different sides of a police investigation.
They have our full and sincere support and co-operation,” King Charles said of the police investigation following his arrest. Eyes of the royal hut Siege royal hut as the king cut off his brother’s financial support in an effort to kick him out of the house. Royal insiders called Andrewgerzog a danger.
Eventually, Andrew was forced to leave because of the scandal that erupted after Epstein’s files were published. But then Charles intervened and provided his brother with a private home at the king’s expense rather than the public treasury.
This reflects what the palace often considers a sensitive subject: the king still had a duty of care to his brother. So he has given him money to live on, as well as a roof over his head.
The situation is compounded by fears for the welfare of Andrew, who looked dazed and haunted in photographs taken after his release from custody. The delicacy of the case also adds to the worry, warned of his unsuitability.
At the time, Charles could do nothing but advise, and the late Queen was appointed to the role of trade representative for her favourite youngest son in consultation with ministers.
That role ended badly in 2011 because of Andrew’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein. At the time Epstein’s files show British diplomats, unimpressed by his social skills, referred to the prince as “His Stupid Highness”.
Then again, if Andrew was the leader of a failed party, he might have disappeared from view. If this had been a soap opera, it would have been kept out of the pub and removed from the script. But instead, Andrew remained part of the royal family, appearing at national events in contrast to his older brother’s honourable efforts.
