Apple will specifically change the iOS 19 interface for larger iPhones

The days of compact iPhones are long gone – just look at the iPhone 16 Pro Max with its 6.9-inch display. Such a diagonal is on the edge of usability, and for many people, interacting with the phone with one hand has become almost impossible. In addition, many iOS controls are still located at the top of the screen, forcing the user to either use their second hand or switch on the “easy access” feature, which temporarily brings the interface down. But it looks like Apple is finally ready to make a change.

According to insiders, the company plans to move some of the controls from the top of the screen to the bottom in iOS 19. For example, the search bar, which is found in many apps, will be available closer to your fingers – at the bottom of the display. This will allow you to use it without juggling the phone in your hand.

Such changes are planned in the “music”, “Messages”, App Store apps, and probably in “settings” and other standard apps. Developers of third-party apps will also be encouraged to switch to the new logic. This will be made possible by a major redesign of iOS 19-expect translucent air windows, floating elements, and the abandonment of the interface’s rigid attachment to the edges of the screen.

One would hope that these changes aren’t just rumours. It would be nice to see Apple really improve the user experience, especially for those with larger models. Even I with a big hand sometimes find it uncomfortable to work with the iPhone 15 Plus, which, mind you, is smaller than the 16 Pro Max by 0.2 inches. If it all comes true, owners of larger iPhones will definitely appreciate the new approach.
