Azerbaijan exported 12.1 billion cubic metres of gas in January-June 2025, the operational data of the Republic’s Energy Ministry says.
“In particular, 6.1 billion cubic metres of Azerbaijani gas, or 50% of the total export volume, was supplied to Europe during this period. 4.9 billion cubic metres of gas was exported to Turkey (41% of total exports), in particular by the TANAP (Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline – If-U) pipeline – 2.9 billion cubic metres,” the Energy Ministry said in its materials.
Deliveries to Georgia amounted to 1.1 billion cubic metres (9% of all exports).
As reported, Azerbaijan exported 12.7 billion cubic metres of gas in January-June 2024, including 6.4 billion cubic metres to Europe and 5 billion cubic metres to Turkey. 1.3 billion cubic metres were supplied to Georgia.
Thus, in the first half of this year the total volume of exports decreased by 4.7% to the level of the same period last year. Supplies to Europe also decreased by 4.7%, to Georgia – by 15.4%, to Turkey – by 2%.
Azerbaijan started exporting gas to Europe on 31 December 2022.
Azerbaijan has gas supply contracts with 11 countries in Europe: Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia, North Macedonia and Germany. In particular, long-term contracts with a fixed volume of supply have been signed with three countries (Italy, Greece and Bulgaria), with the German SEFE (Securing Energy for Europe) for 10 years, the annual volume will be gradually increased to 15 TWh, which is about 1.5 billion cubic metres. Contracts have been signed with other countries without exact purchase volumes.
Azerbaijani gas is also exported to Turkey (through the TANAP and South Caucasus Pipeline, SCP) and Georgia (SCP and Gazimagomed-Gazakh pipeline).
It is planned to start supplying Azerbaijani gas to Syria in the near future on the basis of a memorandum signed on 12 July 2025.
