The Southern Gas Corridor is working at full capacity and requires expansion, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said on 4 April at the 11th ministerial meeting of the Advisory Council on the Southern Gas Corridor and the 3rd meeting on green energy. This is reported by “Ekho Kavkaza”.
According to him, additional financial resources are needed for this purpose, and international institutions should reconsider their policy of limiting investments in projects related to minerals.
Azerbaijan now supplies natural gas to 12 countries, including eight EU countries, Aliyev said, adding that the geography of supplies will expand due to construction and modernisation of gas distribution networks in Europe.
Also today in Baku a memorandum of understanding on “green” energy was signed between Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and Bulgaria. The agreement envisages co-operation in the development of investment projects, power infrastructure development and integration into the ENTSO-E system to expand trade in “green” electricity, Trend reports.
