Belarus has stopped letting Russian conscripts abroad

The State Border Committee of Belarus confirmed that Russian citizens, who were banned from leaving the country after receiving a summons to the army, would not be able to travel abroad through the Belarusian territory. This was reported by the Russian service of Radio Liberty on 29 April.

The DPC said that Belarus and Russia have a common database of conscripts.

“If the exit is forbidden, then all questions to the Russian Federation,” the committee added.

Earlier in the week, the Russian human rights initiative “movement of conscious refuseniks” reported that a conscript from St. Petersburg, who was banned from leaving Russia, was not released from the Belarusian territory.

On 23 April he was not allowed to board a flight to Tbilisi at Minsk airport, and on 25 April he was refused to leave on his internal passport for Yerevan. In all cases, no written confirmations were issued, noted the human rights activists.

According to the RSV, this case shows that Belarus and Russia have started exchanging data from the electronic register of military registration and the register of summonses.
