Berkshire Hathaway raised ¥210bn through new bonds

US billionaire Warren Buffett’s investment company Berkshire Hathaway has raised 210.1bn yen ($1.4bn) from the placement of four yen-denominated bond issues.

The senior unsecured bonds have maturities ranging from three to fifteen years, The Japan Times reported.

In April, the investment firm sold yen-denominated securities worth 90 billion yen.

Berkshire Hathaway started issuing bonds in Japanese currency six years ago and since then has been regularly placing them. The investment company became the largest foreign issuer of yen-denominated bonds during this period.
