Romania summoned Russian ambassador over Russian drone airspace violation

The Romanian Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador Vladimir Lipayev on 14 July. He was provided with “tangible, sufficient and convincing evidence of the violation of Romanian airspace by a Russian armed forces drone on the night of 10-11 November 2025,” according to a ministry press release seen by Radio Liberty’s Romanian service.

Fragments found by Romanian authorities at the crash site of the aircraft “undoubtedly prove its belonging and participation in the massive attacks that night on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure near the border with Romania,” the release said.

The Romanian side expressed “strong protest against this unacceptable and irresponsible act, which constitutes a violation of Romania’s sovereignty” during the summoning of the Russian Federation ambassador.

The Foreign Ministry in Buchrest once again strongly condemned “the illegal and irresponsible attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure near the border with Romania and recalled the exclusive responsibility of the Russian Federation for the war of aggression against Ukraine.”

On the night of 10-11 November 2025, Russia launched air strikes on Ukrainian ports on the Danube.
