Berlin prosecutor’s office accuses doctor of killing 15 palliative care patients

The Berlin prosecutor’s office on Wednesday charged a doctor suspected of killing 15 palliative care patients to whom he administered lethal doses of various drugs, according to investigators. This is reported by Reuters.

The prosecutor’s office is also demanding a lifetime ban on professional activity for the 40-year-old doctor, who has been in custody since August 2024. He previously worked in several German federal states. The doctor’s name has not been disclosed in accordance with German laws on the protection of personal data. According to prosecutors, he has not pleaded guilty.

He was initially suspected of involvement in four deaths dating back to 2024. According to the investigation, he set fire to the flats of the victims to hide the traces of the crimes. However, during the investigation, other suspicious deaths dating back to 2021 were also discovered.

A special investigative team has been set up to work on the case and is studying the doctor’s medical records. New exhumations are also planned.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the doctor injected his palliative patients with anaesthetic and then a myorelaxant – at the same time, the patients were not at a terminal stage of the disease and did not consent to such actions.
