Ukraine exported 73 million tonnes of grain by sea

The Ukrainian sea corridor has transported 116 million tonnes of cargo during its operation, of which almost 73 million tonnes are grain, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Rehabilitation of Ukraine-Minister of Community and Territory Development Oleksiy Kuleba has said.

“Since the launch of the Ukrainian sea corridor 116 million tonnes of cargo have been transported. Of them – more than 73 million tonnes of grain to the countries of Europe, Africa and Asia,” Kuleba wrote in Facebook on Tuesday following the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Odessa region.

At the same time, only since the summer of 2023 Russia has fired more than half a thousand missiles at our ports, damaged about 400 objects of port infrastructure, Kuleba noted in a note on Facebook.

Kuleba also participated in a working trip, noted in a note of the press service of the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories.

Deputy Prime Minister said that in Odessa Zelensky held a meeting on the security situation in the region and its socio-economic development. The focus was on the safety of people, the protection of the sky over the region from Russian attacks, the situation with grain exports, the work of enterprises in the region and the support of our people.

“The protection of the port infrastructure is also important for us. After all, this is the issue of Ukraine’s economy and global food security,” Kuleba emphasised, noting that strengthening protection from constant Russian attacks and stable operation of the sea corridor is of course of interest to the region’s producers as well.
