European leaders are straining to find ways to supply weapons to Ukraine as U.S. President Donald Trump appears to be shying away from war, one option is to buy American, Bloomberg writes.
Europe has neither stockpiles of weapons nor the capacity to produce them in sufficient quantities as it becomes clear that the US will no longer supply them. The White House has also rejected calls from Europe to keep pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin to agree to an immediate ceasefire by tightening sanctions.
The purchase of U.S. weapons would help Ukraine curb the Russian army’s advance and put pressure on Putin, Bloomberg adds.
