Brookfield will invest $10bn to build a data centre in Sweden

US investment company Brookfield Asset Management will invest up to SEK95bn ($9.87bn) in a data centre for artificial intelligence in the Swedish town of Strangnes near Stockholm, the company said in a statement.

The facility will be located on a site of about 3.77 million square feet (350,000 square metres). Construction will take 10-15 years.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson welcomed Brookfield’s plans, writing in social network X that the data centre will be one of the largest of its kind in Europe.

In February, it was reported that Brookfield plans to invest €20bn in building data centres and developing AI infrastructure in France over the next five years.
