Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo has said that Estonia refused to let his plane pass through to Russia to attend a military parade in Moscow on 9 May, the Denník N newspaper reported on 7 May.
“Of course, this is a deliberate attempt to disrupt my visit to Moscow. It disrupts our entire programme, we will not be able to meet the planned deadline for tomorrow evening (8 May – ed.),” Fitzo said.
According to him, the Protocol Service is “doing everything possible to find another alternative route”.
Fitzo said he plans to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow on 9 May and to hold “four extremely important bilateral meetings.”
Estonian authorities said on 7 May that they would not allow their airspace to be used for flights to Moscow for the 9 May military parade. As Denník N notes, Latvian authorities also refused to let Robert Fitzo’s plane to Russia, while neighbouring Lithuania has not yet commented on this.
