Georgia: Zurabishvili initiated a protest rally on 31 March

The fifth President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili initiated a protest rally on 31 March. This was announced by Tamar Chergoleishvili, leader of the Federalists party, following a meeting between Zurabishvili and representatives of the Georgian opposition.

A “united coordination front” will also be created in preparation for new elections. The focus of the opposition and Zurabishvili remains on holding new elections, Chergoleishvili noted.

At the meeting they discussed political processes in the country, issues of political prisoners and the course of protests, SOVA reported.

According to National Movement Party leader Tina Bokuchava, 31 March will be the day of “the referendum on Georgia’s independence and the most important date in the history of Georgia’s independence, for which we will jointly start preparing”.

Bokuchava noted that at the meeting they discussed the creation of a “common front of resistance”, which would involve all opposition political parties, for whom it is important to preserve Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic future.
