Google announced the start of sales of Pixel 9a: when to expect the novelty

Google’s Pixel 9a smartphone was originally expected to start selling this week, but the company has decided to delay the start of shipments. The reason was the need for additional verification of ” a component quality issue that affects only a small number of Pixel 9a devices”. Now Google has announced a new, probably final schedule for the launch of the smartphone, which will happen gradually from 10 to 16 April.

The schedule is as follows:

  • 10 April: US, Canada, UK.

  • 14 April: Germany, Spain, Italy, Ireland, France, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Portugal, Switzerland, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Finland.

  • 16 April: Australia, India, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia.

  • “Coming soon to Japan”.

The Pixel 9a is powered by Google’s Tensor G4 chip with a Titan M2 secure processor. The smartphone has 8GB of RAM and has variants with 128GB or 256GB of inbuilt storage.

The model has a 6.3-inch pOLED display with a resolution of 2424 × 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The display reaches a maximum brightness of 1800 cd/m2 when displaying HDR content, while the peak brightness at 5% area is 2700 cd/m2.

The 48 MP main camera supports autofocus, optical image stabilisation and is capable of shooting videos in 4K at up to 60fps. Additionally, there is a 13 MP wide-angle camera. The 13 MP front camera shoots videos in 4K at 30fps.

 

The smartphone has a design similar to other Pixel 9 models, with IP68 dust and water resistance. It is available in four colours, Obsidian (black), Porcelain (white), Peony (pink) and Iris (purple).

The price of the Google Pixel 9a starts at $499.
