The father of US billionaire Ilon Musk, Erol Musk, has travelled to Moscow to attend a forum organised by “Russian world” ideologue Alexander Dugin, Russian media reported.
“I’m very eager to meet everyone. As far as I know, Russians are among the smartest people on the planet. It would be foolish not to ask their opinion on all issues,” Errol Musk was quoted as saying by Russian state news agency TASS.
Errol Musk also criticised his son Ilon for his conflict with US President Donald Trump, noting that the latter “got too involved in politics”.
According to the official website of the forum, the topics to be discussed at the event, which will be held on 9-10 June, will be “ensuring the growth of the birth rate”, “the ideology of a sovereign Russia”, “Russian foreign policy in the second quarter of the XXI century”, “the race for Mars”, “digital sovereignty”, “patriotic education” and the like.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and oligarch Konstantin Malofeev will also attend the forum. The event will aim to discuss “an alternative vision of the future.”
US President Donald Trump said on 5 June that he had a” great “relationship with billionaire Ilon Musk, but now he is” disappointed” in the businessman.
So he responded to the journalists’ request to comment on Musk’s statements criticising the document, which Trump called the “Big Beautiful Bill” (BBB, Big Beautiful Bill) – it provides for the extension of tax breaks.
Musk then wrote on social network x that without him, Trump would have lost the election.
“Without Me, Trump would have lost the election, Democrats would have controlled the House of Representatives, and Republicans would have lost the Senate. What ingratitude,” Musk wrote in response to Trump’s remarks.
Until the end of May, Ilon Musk ran the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the administration of US President Donald Trump. The department was created to cut government spending, in particular by firing “inefficient” officials.
After his dismissal, the businessman sharply criticised the bill on tax breaks. Musk said, among other things, that the proposed changes would lead to budget gouging. According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump is “losing patience” and” confused” over Musk’s criticism.
