The House of Representatives of the Belarusian parliament approved in the second reading two draft laws amending the laws on national security.
Among the innovations is the recognition of an armed attack as an aggression not only against Belarus, but also against the so-called “Union State” or a CSTO member state.
The Law on the Armed Forces of Belarus expanded the list of tasks of the Belarusian army, which now includes participation in the prevention of internal conflict and, if it occurs, assistance in its termination. Belarusian service of Radio Liberty recalls that in 2020, Lukashenko’s regime used the military during mass protests.
Another bill, approved in the second reading, provides for the expansion of the list of citizens, whose fingerprints are taken, in particular during border crossings.
In addition, the document obliges legal entities and individual entrepreneurs engaged in international road transport to transfer passengers’ personal information to the information systems of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
