In the US, an attacker in a car crashed into a synagogue, started shooting and was killed

A shooting occurred outside a synagogue in the US Detroit suburb of West Bloomfield on 12 March, NBC News reported on 12 March.

According to the FBI, a car drove into the synagogue building and there was “active shooting”. A fire broke out at the site. According to CNN, the attacker was killed.

The perpetrator was armed with a rifle, according to an Associated Press source.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said preliminary information indicates no one was injured in the shooting except the attacker. He said the suspect came into the synagogue and was spotted by security and returned fire, local TV station WXYZ reported.

Police asked locals to stay away from the area where the shooting occurred. Local schools have been put on “safe mode” because of the incident.

The synagogue shooting occurred amid the US-Israel war with Iran, which has been ongoing since 28 February.
