Ukrainian-Estonian unmanned systems development company Black Forest Systems has attracted $400,000 in investment from Swedish companies Front Ventures and Hede Capital Partners AB, the developer said in a release on the LinkedIn social network on Thursday.
According to the release, raising this investment aims to accelerate the development and industrialisation of Black Forest Systems’ unmanned systems, designed primarily for infantry.
“Our mission-shifting the complexity from the operator to the technology itself,” Black Forest Systems CEO Alexander Davydenko is quoted as saying in the release.
It is noted that the company has a flagship system, SHADOX, a reconnaissance system designed for rapid deployment and close-range operations.
Black Forest Systems specified that unlike traditional FPV systems, which depend on specialised external operators, the developer focuses on the ability to operate advanced unmanned systems without extensive piloting experience.
“Black Forest Systems is introducing a new generation of systems tailored for infantry and special forces where autonomy, simplicity and rapid deployment are central. We see strong structural drivers for growth in this segment,” Front Ventures CEO Jonas Malmgren said in the release.
Black Forest Systems previously raised investment from Finnish-Ukrainian investment company Double Tap Investments Ltd.
Unmanned systems developer Black Forest Systems was founded in 2024. The company’s main task is to develop unmanned systems for infantry with the involvement of real-world combat design.
Front Ventures is a Swedish public investment company that focuses on financing defence projects, particularly in Ukraine and Sweden, since summer 2025.
Hede Capital Partners AB is a Swedish investment company founded in 2024.
