The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi have warned that any US strikes against Iranian infrastructure would result in retaliatory measures against targets in the region.
Majid Mousavi, commander of the IRGC’s Aerospace Force, stated in a report published by Iranian media that, should strikes be carried out against Iranian bridges and power stations, a power cut would be “inevitable”, affecting US allies and partners in the region.
The IRGC Navy commander also warned against using so-called ‘alternative routes’ through the Strait of Hormuz, describing them as dangerous and noting that their use would have ‘serious and irreparable consequences’. Separately, a spokesperson for the US Navy warned shipping companies against using the southern route through the Strait, claiming that it is mined, according to Iranian media reports.
Arakchi wrote on social media platform X that any attack on Iranian infrastructure would be met with a response “without restraint”.
These warnings came a few hours after US President Donald Trump stated in a post on Truth Social that any Iranian attack on ships in the Strait of Hormuz would be met with US strikes on Iranian bridges or power stations.
Iran’s ‘Khatam al-Anbia’ Central Command, which oversees military operations, also warned that the Iranian Armed Forces would disrupt oil exports and launch strikes against regional oil, gas, electricity and economic infrastructure if the US threats are carried out.
