Iran’s Red Crescent claimed “787 killed” in the past four days

The Iranian Red Crescent said on 3 March that the death toll from Israeli and U.S. strikes on Iran had reached “787.”

The organisation, which operates under the supervision of the Islamic republic’s government, also reported that the strikes affected 153 districts across Iran.

The Red Crescent released casualty figures without providing details.

Iranian officials say 165 of the dead were students at a girls’ school in Minab, where funerals for some of the victims were held on 3 March. Iranian state media published a list containing 57 names of those killed at the school.

The United States and Israel say they have no knowledge of the strike on the school. However, Iranian authorities attribute the incident to the two countries and say they will pursue the matter through international legal structures.

The joint operation between the United States and Israel had already killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and a significant number of other senior Iranian regime officials in the first wave of strikes on 28 February.

Iran’s military has attacked not only Israel or US military installations in the region with missiles and drones, but also many of its regional neighbours, which Tehran considers allies of the United States. Not only military, but also civilian targets like apartment blocks, hotels or airports have come under attack. Also attacked were the militaries of European countries present in the Middle East. According to the US military’s Central Command, six American servicemen were killed in the Iran operation.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the strongest US strikes against targets in Iran are “still to come”. He said the strikes are aimed at destroying Iran’s ballistic missile and naval capabilities.
