A senior Iranian official has called on the United States to “surrender and make concessions,” echoing previous threats Tehran has made during the nearly 3-month war.
The comments by lawmaker Ebrahim Rezaei, who is from the Iranian parliament’s national security commission, came on 10 May, when Iran is reportedly due to respond to a US peace offer.
“As of today, our restraint is over,” he wrote on social media X. – “The best way is to give up and make concessions. You have to get used to the new regional order.”
“Any attack on our ships will be met with a tough and decisive Iranian response against American ships and bases,” he added.
It is unclear whether Rezaei’s threats reflect the regime’s official policy. It was earlier reported that Tehran is likely to respond to the new US proposal on 10 May.
