Media: Jared Kushner arrives in Israel for talks with Netanyahu on Gaza

US President Donald Trump’s influential son-in-law, Jared Kushner, arrived in Israel on Sunday for talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on implementing a US plan to end the Gaza war, Reuters reported, citing a source familiar with the situation.

Kushner is expected to meet Netanyahu on Monday, said the source, who wished to remain anonymous because the meeting had not been officially announced. The White House and Netanyahu’s office did not respond to Reuters’ request for comment.

Jared Kushner was involved in the Gaza talks along with US presidential special envoy Steve Whitkoff.

In September, Trump announced a 20-point plan to end the two-year war, starting with a truce that took effect on 10 October and the handover of hostages held by Hamas, a group recognised as a terrorist group by the US and EU.

Since 10 October, Hamas has released 20 live hostages and handed over the bodies of 24 hostages from Gaza. There are four dead hostages whose remains are still being held in Gaza.

When asked about Israel’s objections to the presence of Turkish troops in Gaza, U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Tom Barrack said at a security conference in Manama earlier this month that Turkey would participate.

Vice President J.D. Vance said last month that Ankara would play a “constructive role” but that Washington would not impose anything on Israel regarding foreign troops “on their territory.”
