A victory in the war against Ukraine would allow Russia to prepare for the next one, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has said at a briefing with the leaders of Moldova, France and Poland in Chisinau on 27 August.
He expressed his conviction that the war must come to an end, but “not at any cost”.
“We do not want a surrender of Ukraine. Such a surrender will only buy time for Russia, and Putin will use this time to prepare for the next war,” he was quoted as saying by the British publication The Guardian.
The leaders of France, Germany and Poland celebrated Moldova’s Independence Day in Chisinau on 27 August and expressed full support for Moldova’s European path and its security.
