Moore Threads has unveiled the Huashan AI chip

Chinese GPU developer Moore Threads Technology unveiled a new Huashan AI chip during its first developer conference in Beijing, Caixin Global writes.

The chip is designed to train and operate AI models and in key performance metrics, including floating point speed and memory bandwidth, is placed between two processors from US-based Nvidia Corp. (SPB: NVDA) – the latest Blackwell and its predecessor Hopper – and outperforms both in memory capacity, Moore Threads claims.

The company is sometimes referred to as China’s Nvidia. It was founded in 2020 by a top executive at US-based Hermeyer.

Moore Threads priced its 8bn yuan ($1.13bn) IPO in Shanghai in early December, the second-largest in mainland China this year. Its shares were up 1.3 per cent at the end of trading on Monday.
