By comparison, Nolan’s previous film-Oscar-winning “Oppenheimer”-received around 50 million views over a similar period.
The video was also Universal Studios’ most popular trailer in 2025, although it only ranked eighth in the overall film rankings. According to analytics company WaveMetrix, 27 per cent of views came from TikTok, 26 per cent from YouTube, 21 per cent from Facebook, 18 per cent from Instagram and 10 per cent from X.
Along with the wave of positive reviews, the trailer also drew criticism. Part of the audience threw historical inaccuracies at the authors, particularly in relation to Agamemnon’s helmet, while the appearance of the Cyclops did not cause significant censure.
“The Odyssey” is an adaptation of Homer’s epic poem about the King of Ithaca’s long and dangerous journey home after the Trojan War. The film stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland and Anne Hathaway, as well as Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson and others.
The film will be the first ever film project shot entirely on IMAX film cameras. According to unofficial information, the budget of the film exceeds 250 million dollars and is the largest in the career of Nolan. The premiere of “The Odyssey” is scheduled for 17 July 2026.
