Musk criticised Trump’s ‘big beautiful bill’

American billionaire Ilon Musk, who for several months played an important role in the administration of US President Donald Trump, criticised the “Big Beautiful Bill” (BBB – Big Beautiful Bill), the centrepiece of the legislative proposals of the 47th head of the United States. This is reported by American news agencies.

The businessman, who supported Trump’s candidacy with at least $250 million during the election campaign and worked in his administration as a senior adviser, said he was “disappointed” with the bill.

The document calls for a combination of tax cuts and increased immigration enforcement. Speaking to CBS, Musk called it a “massive spending bill” that increases the federal deficit and” undermines the work” of the Department of Government Efficiency, known as DOGE, which he created.

Musk’s CBS interview aired on the evening of 27 May (that’s the night of 28 May Kiev time). White House officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Republicans recently voted in favour of the bill in the House; it must now be debated in the Senate. Members of Trump’s party have slim majorities in both houses of Congress.

Musk’s comments come at a time when he has stepped away from government work to devote himself to his own companies – electric car maker Tesla and rocket maker SpaceX. He also announced he would cut back on his political spending.
