Venezuelan opposition figure and Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado has announced her return to her homeland after spending almost a year abroad. This comes against the backdrop of a political struggle over the country’s future and negotiations on a democratic transition.
“I am here. With you,” Machado wrote on social media platform X.
Representatives of the opposition figure have published photographs of her taken at a church in the state of Lara in the west of the country. Former opposition presidential candidate Edmundo González also reported on her return.
