Former Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, who was standing for the post of Prime Minister, has conceded defeat for the ‘United Serbia’ list in the snap parliamentary elections.
In his view, the Student List is set to win, potentially securing between 135 and 140 seats in parliament. “Preliminary results make it clear that we have lost this election; the Student List has won. They will have between 135 and 140 seats, whilst we will have around 105,” said Vučić.
He added that the list he represents had secured around 1.72 million votes, whilst the Student List had received approximately 2.2 million.
Vučić also noted that the other political lists, apart from those representing national minorities, had failed to clear the electoral threshold. The Serbian Progressive Party had been in power since 2012.
