Oil exports from Azerbaijan fell by 12.1 per cent over the seven-month period

Exports of declared crude oil (HS code 2709) from Azerbaijan in January–July 2026 totalled 12.72 million tonnes, which is 12.1 per cent less than in the same period last year, according to data from the country’s State Customs Committee (SCC).

The total value of exported crude oil was $8.03 billion (an increase of 4.9 per cent).

Crude oil accounted for 41.54 per cent of Azerbaijan’s total exports (compared with 50.31 per cent in January–July 2025).

According to the SCC, the main importer was Italy, which accounted for 58.7 per cent of shipments – 7.47 million tonnes of oil worth $4.56 billion.

The top three buyers also included the Czech Republic (802,370 tonnes worth $562.1 million) and Romania (821,310 tonnes worth $522.2 million).

The committee lists only the top ten buyers of Azerbaijani oil. In January–July, these also included India, Bulgaria, Tunisia, Portugal, Germany, Switzerland and Greece.
