OpenAI is gearing up to introduce advertising to ChatGPT and is already looking for a head of advertising and monetisation. According to insiders, the new CEO for consumer products Fiji Simo is in talks with candidates that include her former colleagues from Facebook.
The future top – manager will control all sources of revenue for the company – from subscriptions to advertising integrations and directly report to Simo. She joined OpenAI in August 2025 after working at Instacart and now oversees most consumer services, while research and infrastructure remain Sam Altman’s responsibility.
The first hints of the new strategy have already appeared: a screenshot of a ChatGPT test response with a Logitech ad block was recently circulated on the web. This may indicate preparations to integrate advertising into the product.
There have been no official comments from OpenAI yet, but the market expects confirmation soon.
