Wagons of passenger train No. 302 Moscow – Chelyabinsk have derailed in Cherdaklinsky district of Russia’s Ulyanovsk region. The press service of the Russian railway reported about seven carriages.
The incident occurred at 06:26 Moscow time near the Bryandino station.
According to the railway, there were 415 people on the train. Chelyabinsk Region Governor Alexei Teksler said, among them were four organised groups of children – a total of 60 pupils. Teksler specified that there were no fatalities.
“Preliminarily two passengers with fractures: one with a broken leg, the second with a broken collarbone. With bruises 20 people, including one child with a bruised leg,” he wrote in social networks.
Later, the head of the Uyanovsk region Alexei Russkikh said that the number of victims increased to 24, among them four children.
The traffic on the site was stopped. About the causes of the accident is not yet reported. Preliminary indicate that the cause could be a broken rail.
The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal article on violation of the rules of safety of movement and operation of railway transport.
