Russia’s Belgorod, located near the border with Ukraine, was attacked several times by drones on 14 August, including several strikes in the evening, local authorities and Telegram channels reported.
One person was killed and several others were injured, according to Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.
In Belgorod, the city centre was blocked off, all mass events were cancelled, shopping centres and verandas of restaurants and cafes were closed.
Drones reportedly attacked the government building of Russia’s Belgorod region five times.
In the afternoon, Gladkov said in his Telegram channel that Belgorod had been shelled and attacked by 32 Ukrainian drones, of which 13, he said, had been shot down
Earlier today, drone strikes were also reported in Russia’s Rostov-on-Don, located about 150 to 200 kilometres from the front line in Ukraine.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russian regions as well as Russian-occupied territories have been regularly subjected to shelling and drone attacks.
The Ukrainian side notes that it is working to weaken the rear bases of the Russian army in order to reduce the aggressor’s offensive potential.
