Russia and the United States have started discussing joint projects in the field of rare-earth metals, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev said in an interview with the Russian newspaper Izvestia.
“Rare-earth metals are an important area for co-operation, and we have certainly already started discussing various projects in this area in Russia,” Dmitriev said.
According to the newspaper, a number of companies have already expressed interest in relevant initiatives. Earlier, the RDIF head noted that Russia has much larger reserves of rare-earth metals than Ukraine and can develop cooperation in this area both with the United States and other countries.
On 24 February, US President Donald Trump said on his Truth Social platform that he and Russian leader Vladimir Putin were discussing “major” economic agreements as part of discussions on ending the war.
