Russia will have to pay for refusing to negotiate with Ukraine – Macron

France condemns Russian strikes on Ukraine’s infrastructure and is working with partners to restore vital services, President Emmanuel Macron said after speaking with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“While the agreement reached on Gaza offers a glimmer of hope for peace in the Middle East, the war in Ukraine must also end. If Russia continues its persistent warmongering and refuses to come to the negotiating table, it will have to pay the price. France condemns the Russian strikes on critical infrastructure in Ukraine, which are effectively targeting civilians ahead of winter. Together with our partners, we are exploring the necessary options to rebuild and provide essential services. France supports Ukraine as never before, fully engaged within the coalition of the willing,” Macron wrote on social network X.

Earlier today, President Zelensky said that he spoke with Emmanuel Macron about Ukraine’s priority needs, primarily in air defence (air defence) systems and missiles. Zelensky also emphasised that Russia is now trying to take advantage of the fact that the world’s attention is now focused on the events in the Middle East and its strikes on Ukraine have become “more sneaky”.

The Russian military regularly attacks Ukrainian regions with different types of weapons – strike UAVs, missiles, KABs, MLRSs.

The Russian leadership denies that the Russian army, during a full-scale war, is carrying out targeted attacks on the civilian infrastructure of Ukrainian towns and villages, killing civilians and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply facilities.

The Ukrainian authorities and international organisations qualify these strikes as war crimes by the Russian Federation and stress that they are purposeful.
