On 14 April, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry invited the Russian ambassador to Bishkek, Sergey Vakunov, in connection with the mass detentions of the country’s citizens in the Moscow bathing complex “bodrost”.
According to a Foreign Ministry statement, the Russian side was handed an official note asking it to provide information on the grounds for the operation carried out by law enforcement agencies, as well as the use of force against citizens, and to take appropriate measures if the use of force is unjustified. “A request was made to take effective measures to protect the rights of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic and to prevent similar situations,” the document said.
As a result of the raid, according to official data, 24 people were detained, some of whom were given monetary fines for possible violation of migration laws. Four, as it became known on 14 April, will be deported.
More than 300,000 Kyrgyz citizens are registered as migrants in Russia. Migration legislation in Russia has been gradually strengthened recently.
