The 2023 flagships are gearing up for their third major system update. This time to Android 16.
Immediately two Samsung smartphones-Galaxy S23 and S23+-have lit up the Geekbench database with One UI 8 powered by Android 16, despite the fact that One UI 7 only recently started rolling out.
The devices with IDs SM-S911U and SM-S916U are powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and are equipped with 8GB of RAM. One UI 8 is rumoured to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 smartphones in July, and the major innovations will focus on improved security and expanded Galaxy AI features.
The update will also offer Android 16-based features including advanced rogue protection, AI malware scanning, a new desktop mode and UWB support. Improvements to the lock widget and Live Update are also expected.
One UI 8 will be the third of four guaranteed updates for the S23 series, leaving users with another big update in the future.
