Samsung continues to strengthen its position in the foldable smartphone market by filing a patent for a pioneering model with four foldable panels. This development involves the use of three hinges that connect four horizontal panels to a single flexible display. This concept could open up new possibilities for mobile devices, providing even greater functionality and portability.
At the current stage, the patent is more a defence of an innovative idea than a direct plan for implementation, underlining Samsung’s ambition to lead the field of flexible screens.
At the same time, the South Korean electronics manufacturer also showed off a patent for a dual-hinged smartphone that appears to be more elaborate. It features a triple camera and a USB Type-C port, indicating its potential release.
These developments put Samsung a few steps ahead of its main rival Apple, which has yet to release a foldable iPhone. It is expected that Samsung’s new devices could significantly change the foldable device market, although their availability may not happen anytime soon.
